The Bihar Foundation, a platform set up to facilitate interaction between the government of the state and the Bihari diaspora, will be holding programmes in eight major cities spread across different states this year, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said today.
Addressing the first executive of the Foundation for the current financial year, Sushil, who is its Chairman, said "conferences of non-resident Biharis will be held at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Pune and Surat".
"People interested in investing in Bihar will be specially invited to these conferences which would be marked by investors' meet organized by the state's departments for Information Technology and Industry", he said.
"In order to popularize the culture of Bihar, stalls will be set up where traditional Bihari dishes would be served", he added.
The Deputy CM also said that a website has been launched to popularize the Foundation, which has chapters both within the country as well as abroad and "we aim to register at least one lakh non-resident Biharis. Besides a monthly newsletter has also been launched and the Foundation's Facebook page and twitter handle have been made active".
"Chapters in foreign locations like Qatar, Dubai, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Australia, South Korea and Singapore have been asked to hold celebrations of Bihar Diwas. This would enable non-resident Biharis to maintain a lively link with their home state", he added.
The meeting was also attended by state industry minister and the Foundation's Executive Chairman Jai Kumar Singh, Development Commissioner and Chief Secretary-designate Deepak Kumar and Principal Secretaries for industry and art and culture S Siddharth and Chaitanya Prasad respectively.
