The authorities have seized Rs.
18.78 crore unaccounted cash, contraband worth Rs 45.11 lakh, gold worth Rs 2.20 crore and silver worth Rs 68.84 lakh on the Election Commission's guidelines for conduct of free and fair Assembly polls in Bihar, an official release said today.
The Flying Squad, Static Surveillance Team and other law enforcement agencies have so far seized Rs 18.78 crore unaccounted cash till date out of which the Income Tax department has confiscated Rs 1.49 lakh crore, while Rs 12.11 crore has been released to the owners by the district-level committees following verification, a released issued by the office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said.

The authorities have recovered Rs 1,17,500 unaccounted cash in Katihar district during the past 24 hours which was under probe by the police and income tax officials, it said.
In addition, consignments of 837 kg ganja worth Rs 41.85 lakh, 326 gram heroin worth Rs 3.26 lakh, 8.6 kg gold worth Rs 2,20,70,776 and 189 kg silver valued at Rs 68,84,834 have been seized from across Bihar since commencement of Assembly poll process in Bihar last month, the release said.
In incidents related to enforcement of Model Code of Conduct, three cases have been registered for defacement in public property, while one case has been lodged for defacement in private property, it said, adding that three cases of misuse of vehicle act, two for violation of loudspeaker act and four related to other matters have been lodged in the past 24 hours.

In matters related to law and order, 12 arms and weapons and 68 ammunitions have been seized, while 84 licensed arms deposited with the authorities and one arms license cancelled.
478 persons have been bound down under preventive sections of Cr PC, while 80 non-bailable warranted exeecuted, the release said, adding a sum of Rs. 1.49 lakh have been collected as fine in vehicle checking..
In cases related to excise and prohibition, 24 prohibition cases have been lodgeed, 71 raids conducted, 1774 litres illicit liquor siezed, 23 arrested and a sum of Rs. 55,400 imposed as fine on those found violating excise and prohibition rules.
