The high altitude tribal areas reeled under arctic conditions with minimum temperatures staying 12 to 22 degrees below freezing point while Keylong recorded a low of minus 9.8 degrees Celsius.
Manali reeled at minus 3.4 degrees Celsius, while Kalpa shivered at minus 2.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Solan and Bhuntar minus 0.6, Sundernagar minus 0.2 , Palampur 1.0, Una 2.0, Shimla 2.4, Nahan 4.1 and Dharamsala 5.0 degrees Celsius.
The weather remained dry in the region and the local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the state over next four days, and rains or snow at isolated places in mid and higher hills from January 28 onwards.
The continued dry spell is causing anxiety to the farmers and apple growers as periodic rains and snowfall during January are essential for good Rabi and apple crops.
