BJP candidate injured, one dies in accident

One person was killed and four others including the BJP candidate of Barrackpore R K Handa were seriously injured today in an accident on Kalyani Highway at Kharda, the police said.
Handa was on the way to carry out a door-to-door campaign in Barrackpore Lok Sabha constituency when his car was hit by a vehicle coming from the opposite direction at Patulia Karatkal More.
One man travelling in the car that hit Handa's vehicle died on the way to a local hospital while three others of the same car were seriously injured, sources said.
Handa was admitted to a private nursing home at Talpukur in Barrackpore.
