"It is an insult to the educationist that Vice Chancellor of Rajasthan University Dev Swaroop had to resign under pressure and interference of the state government," Pradesh Congress Committee President Sachin Pilot said in a statement here.
"Dev Swaroop was working very sincerely and dedicated his services to improve the working of Rajasthan University and giving employment opportunities to the teaching and non-teaching faculty members," Pilot said.
The state government had gone to the extreme to stop certain sanctions in the Budget and interfered in the working, which led to the VC's resignation, he said.
"The BJP government is politicising the higher education. It appears that BJP is trying to thrust on higher posts of educational institutions and universities people of its ideology and benefit such people," he alleged.
Swaroop resigned on November 3, citing difficulties in functioning and "non-cooperation" from the state government.
