He filed his nomination papers at the Mahsamund collectorate in the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and a large number of his supporters.
Later, Singh addressed a public meeting at a school ground in Mahasamund and appealed to the people to ensure Sahu's victory to ensure a Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the centre.
"Our target is to cross 272 seats in parliament and we will definitely achieve it," he said.
Mahasamund and two other parliamentary constituencies namely Rajnandgaon and Kanker would go to polls on April 17.
Contestants could withdraw their names until March 29.
