BJP unaffected by anti-incumbency: Naidu

Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu today said that the BJP was not afflicted by the anti-incumbency factor, and exuded confidence that his party will better its landslide win of 2014 Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
During an interaction with mediapersons here, the Information and Broadcasting minister also said that the BJP had no problem on opposition parties coming together to form a Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance).
"After three years, there is no anti-incumbency factor in the government. Be it panchayat elections, municipal elections or Assembly elections, BJP is leading in one after another election," said Naidu.
"NDA will get more seats in (2019 General) elections than 2014," he said.

After storming to a historic win in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in which it won 282 seats, the BJP has been on a winning spree. Most recently, the party scored major victories in UP and Uttarakhand and formed governments in Goa and Manipur.
Naidu said that the BJP won't be deterred by the fact that some of the Opposition parties were mulling forming a grand alliance.

"We have no problem, let them come together. Some of them have gone to jail and are out on bail. If they want to come together we have no problem," Naidu said.
Claiming that there wasn't even a single charge of corruption against the Narendra Modi government, Naidu suggested the Opposition parties to give up its "negative mindset" and rather cooperate with the government in its "agenda of development and good governance".

"I am not naming any parties, but countrymen should be aware of the design of the corrupt, communal and casteist parties. They are trying to divert attention of people by disinformation campaign," he said.
