Scores of Delhi BJP workers staged a protest outside the Assembly today just before the House met for a special session, accusing the AAP government of trying to rake up the DDCA issue to suppress the charges faced by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's principal secretary.

The Delhi government has called the special session of Assembly to discuss alleged irregularities in Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) and the last week's CBI raid at the Delhi Secretariat.

Raising slogans against the AAP government and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the BJP workers marched to the entrance of the Assembly where they were stopped by security personnel. Later, they were detained by the police.

Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Vijender Gupta said the protest was a mark of "anger" of the people against the AAP government's "unconstitutional" ways and use of the House for "political vendetta" instead of deliberating issues of development and public interest.

"The special session for discussing the CBI raid at the office of the principal secretary of Delhi government also showed that the government is promoting corruption and siding with corrupt officials," Gupta said.

CBI carried out raids in Delhi Secretariat in connection with charges against Kejriwal's Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar last week.

"The protest led by Delhi BJP general secretaries Ashish Sood and Rekha Gupta was aimed at exposing the Kejriwal government for saving its corrupt official by raising the DDCA issue in Vidhan Sabha," BJP spokesman Praveen Kapoor said.

The detained BJP workers were taken to the office of the Operation Cell of Delhi Police near Daulat Ram College.
