But the Trinamool Congress stopped the 'umbrella' protest after Speaker Sumitra Mahajan took strong exception to this form of venting their anger.
Soon after she adjourned the House following uproar on the issue, Mahajan called TMC leaders Sudip Bandhopadhyay and Kalyan Banerjee to her chamber and asked them to avoid such means of protest.
Though TMC members protested later along with members of other opposition parties, they kept the umbrellas out.
As soon as the House met for the day, members from Trinamool Congress rushed to the Well holding black umbrellas with slogans like 'bring back black money' painted on them.
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan warned the members against displaying umbrellas and said they should desist from using such tactics to show their protest.
