Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Chamkani Abdul Salam was on a routine patrol when the remote-controlled bomb exploded near his vehicle on the Northern Bypass, Superintendent of Police (SP) rural Furqan Bilal said.
However, the police official remained unhurt. His vehicle suffered minor damage in the blast in which 5 kilograms of explosives were used, police said.
Meanwhile, a second remote-controlled bomb exploded in Karkhano Market earlier in the day moments after a police vehicle passed nearby. No loss of life was reported in this blast however, a passenger bus was partially damaged.
