A large number of locals assembled at the Andhau airstrip where the bodies were brought by an IAF aircraft.
The two martyrs were given a guard of honour and the bodies were kept for the locals to pay their tributes.

The ambush on army patrol took place in Machhil sector of of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.
Of the three soldiers killed in the attack, two--Shashank Kumar Singh and Manoj Kumar Kushwaha of 57 Rashtriya Rifles-- were from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh and one from Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
