He said that news media and journalists should actively contribute in the development process by giving more stress on accuracy, objectivity and balance in reporting issues relating to national importance.
Singh was addressing yesterday evening on the occasion of valedictory function of the 66th batch of Diploma in Development Journalism Course at Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) here, according to an official statement.
He also underscored the role of news media in promoting sustainable development by making common people aware about their rights and responsibilities, it said.
