The incident took place at around 7 am, police said, adding, the girl's frock was torn and the same cloth piece was allegedly used to strangulate her.
Senior officials who reached the spot said, any possibility of rape would be confirmed only after the postmortem report comes out.
A resident of the Sabdalpur Rehra village, the minor girl had gone to relieve herself in the field this morning when the incident occurred, they said.
Police claims that the victim's family is the only backward family in the area.
