In the petition moved by newly-elected BSP Legislature Party leader Gaya Charan Dinkar, the party cited the announcement made by Maurya in a press conference on June 22 and subsequent actions which proved that Maurya on his own had quit the party on whose ticket he had been elected, a BSP release issued here said.
Citing various rules, the party said Maurya is no longer qualified to be a member of BSP as he quit the party by will and so he should be disqualified from the membership of the State Assembly from June 22 and facilities enjoyed by him as MLA and enomulents given to him be withdrawn from that very date.
Maurya had quit the party saying he felt "suffocated" and accused BSP chief Mayawati of "auctioning" tickets for next year's Assembly polls.
