: Advocate General A L Somayaji today informed Madras High Court that the Justice Reghupathy Commission Report on last year's building collapse at suburban Moulivakkam would be placed on the floor of the Assembly before the end of August 2015.
An undertaking to the effect was given before the first bench, comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice T S Sivagnanam by the AG today.
The Bench had on June 30 warned the Government that it would hand over the case to CBI if the Tamil Nadu government further delayed placing of the one-man commission's report on the matter before the assembly.
The warning from the first bench came a couple of days after the tragedy's first anniversary on June 30, 2015.
When the matter came up today an affidavit was filed by the Secretary, Public and Rehabilitation Department, which was submitted through the AG to the bench.
The bench then posted the matter for further hearing to September 15 and directed the Government to submit the copy of the report before it two days in advance to the next date of hearing.
Sixty-one persons lost their lives after the 11-storeyed building collapsed on June 28 last year. The state government had set up an inquiry commission to probe the circumstances leading to the collapse.
DMK leader M K Stalin and social activist 'Traffic' Ramaswamy had moved the court seeking a CBI inquiry into the incident.
