Says there has been a very good coordination between bureaucracy and politicians during his about four-decade experience in governance

Government officers must work under the ambit of the law and within the given charge, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said today.

"Certainly I say that the bureaucracy must have freedom. But the bureaucracy must work under the ambit of the law, within the given charge they should work. I believe that," Shinde told reporters here in response to a query on suspended Uttar Pradesh IAS officer Durga Sakthi Nagpal who had taken on sand mafia in Gautam Budh Nagar.

"It is a matter concerning the state," Shinde said when asked about his comments on the suspension of the young IAS officer.

He said there has been a very good coordination between the bureaucracy and politicians during his about four-decade experience in governance.

"I have spent about 40 years in government and I found there is a very good coordination between the bureaucracy and the government," said the Home Minister.

Nagpal, a 2010-batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, was suspended on July 27 ostensibly for ordering demolition of wall of a mosque without following due process.

The officer, as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Gautam Budh Nagar, had cracked down on sand mafia active in that area of Uttar Pradesh.
