MNS general secretary Shalini Thackeray met Mumbai Suburban District Collector Shekhar Channe at his Bandra office here to discuss this issue.
"Currently, over 2,500 cable operators in Mumbai are waiting to get the 4 (2)(b) licence for cable operators. They have failed to secure legal status for their businesses due to lack of licences. This is creating professional difficulties for them," Thackeray told reporters after the meeting.
Under Section- 4 (2) (b) of Bombay Entertainment Duty Act, 1923, licences are issued to cable operators, enabling them to pay entertainment tax to the government.
Thackeray said Channe has asked cable operators to apply for a 4 (2)(b) licence and has assured that it would will be issued within a specific time-frame.
