Case of cheating registered against directors of UP-based firm

Pune police have registered a case against directors of a Uttar Pradesh-based firm for duping a research and training centre here of Rs 4 lakh by promising a skill development franchise under a Central scheme.
The complainant, director of a research and training centre, saw online advertisement of Kanpur-based 'Global Skill', which claimed to be licensed by the Union government under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
"The firm's directors V K Shukla and Abhishek Vajpayee told the complainant that they are licensed to grant franchise (to run a skill development centre) under the scheme," a police officer from Chatushringi police station said.

The complainant then paid Rs 5 lakh to the accused for getting a franchise.
But subsequently she learnt, after making inquiries with the Prime Minister's Office, that the firm was bogus.
She demanded the money back but recovered only Rs one lakh. When she demanded the balance Rs 4 lakh, she was threatened with dire consequences, police said.
Further probe is on. No arrest has been made.
