The incident took place last night in a colony situated close to Police Lines when members of the infamous 'Chaddi-Baniyan' gang broke into the house of fertiliser and seed trader Santosh Parashar and decamped with jewellery worth Rs six lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh cash and other valuables, they said.
Parashar (30) lived with his mother Sharda. Both were injured in the robbery and referred to Gwalior after primary treatment here.
Shivpuri District Superintendent of Police (SP) M S Sikarwar visited the spot today and directed police officials to take immediate steps for nabbing those involved in the dacoity.
