Market players said a significant decline in ready stocks due to tight arrivals from producing belts amid strong demand from soap, paint and lubricant industries mainly pushed up castor seed futures prices for the second straight day.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castor seed delivery for March month contract jumped Rs 48 or 1.16 per cent to Rs 4,189 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,560 lots.
Similarly, the delivery for the most traded second contract for April month climbed Rs 46 or 1.09 per cent to Rs 4,260 per quintal, with a business turnover of 52,870 open lots.
