The arrested official has been identified as Shankar Pawar, Manager (Technical), NHAI.

The complainant had alleged that the official had initially demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 from him for issuing a 'no-objection certificate' for three plots located near a national highway in Maharashtra's Satara district.

"Later on, the accused agreed to accept Rs 22,000. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant," a CBI press release said.
