The Central Railway has earned Rs 1.23 crore in last finacial year, from shooting of domestic and international films and documentaries on its locations.
Of this, media house British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) alone has contributed Rs 62.83 lakh, officials said.
"We earned Rs 1.23 crore during financial year 2014-15 from filmmakers towards charges for using our railway stations and other premises," Central Railway Chief PRO Narendra Patil said here today.
The films shot during the period include Arbaaz Khan's 'Dolly Ki Doli', which was filmed at Nasik Road and Devlali railway stations, Patil said. The other films shot were 'Kick' and 'Badlapur'.
However, 'Badlapur' was shot at Lonavala, Loni and Igatpuri railway stations and not at the station bearing its name.
"We expect a revenue of around Rs 1.5 crore from shootings next financial year," the senior Railway officer said.
"We envisage more ad films and also some Marathi films being shot at our locales," Patil said.
