Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar today said he has formed a fact-finding committee to look into the matter and submit a report.
Violence protests had rocked the varsity campus last Friday after arrest of four students for disrupting an executive council meeting and violating prohibitory orders.
The agitating students had pelted police personnel with stones. A number of vehicles parked nearby were damaged and windowpanes smashed.
"I have formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the matter. It will submit me the report in a couple of days. I will then take necessary action," Javadekar said in a series of tweets.
Tensions began on the campus Friday after a group of students, led by office-bearers of their union, surrounded the university's guest house, where an executive council meeting was underway, and shouted slogans demanding action against alleged financial irregularities in the institute.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also sought a report on the violence from the the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police.
He has also said that problems of students should be speedily redressed.
