Barbra Streisand calls out sexism in Hollywood

Academy Award winner Barbra Streisand, one of the first females to write, direct and star in a full-length feature film, opened up about her struggles as a filmmaker during a chat with Robert Rodriguez at the Tribeca film festival.
The 75-year-old veteran noted her films "Yentl", "The Prince of Tides" and "The Mirror Has Two Faces" received a number of Oscar nominations but none of them were for the best director, which she put down to sexism, reported Entertainment Weekly.
"There were a lot of older directors who didn't want to see a woman director. And then there's the whole notion of, I don't know how many women wanted to see a movie with a woman director. Then you get into competition and a bit of jealousy," Streisand said.

Rodriguez, who was hosting the panel, pointed out that Streisand opened the door for other women filmmakers, but she believes that the industry is still dominated by male directors.
"Not enough women are directing now. I love when I see a woman's name on a film. Then I pray that it's good.
