Employees of the Centre-run hospitals and dispensaries today went on hunger strike against the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.
The employees of the the Central government hospitals and dispensaries are protesting under the banner of All India Health Employees & Workers Confederation.
Though the commission had announced a 16 per cent rise in the basic wages of the Group C employees, the hike was only 14.29 per cent, general secretary of the Confederation, Ramkrishan claimed.
The members had held a nation-wide agitation in this regard in March, last year.
They also alleged that various category such as social worker, leprosy worker, assistant, animal supervisor, Paramedical worker, cultural worker and mortuary staff were not mentioned in the 7th pay recommendations.
"We have given three memorandums to the Union Health Minister and also approached the Labour Minister but nothing has happened so far.
"We have been given assurances but till now no attempt has been made to review the recommendations," Ramkrishan said.
