Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling today urged the local people to come forward and take full advantage of the Chief Minister's Start-up Scheme to become self-reliant entrepreneurs.

"We have earmarked Rs 79 crore for the Chief Ministers Start-up Scheme in the current financial year so that our young people come forward and utilize this fund to become self-reliant entrepreneurs in their chosen fields," he said after inaugurating an Entrepreneurs Hub and Consultation Centre.

The centre has been dedicated to budding entrepreneurs of Sikkim.

Chamling urged the youngsters to seek financial aid from banks and other lending agencies in starting their business ventures and said that they have the requisite talent and creativity to become pioneers and trend setters in business ventures too.

He regretted that there has been a festering trend among the local people to always look upon government jobs as only source of employment.

He said the state government has created numerous opportunities for the locals to work in sectors like tourism, organic agriculture, horticulture, industries, etc.

"Our Sikkimese youth must venture into these private sectors and become job providers instead of being job-seekers," he said.
