The Chief Minister said the target of 100 per cent toilets in the two district would be achieved under the Nirmal Bharat Mission with extensive drives.
An extra fund of Rs 8 crores would be released to build toilets above the annual targets, he said in a review meeting of the Swachh Bharat Mission with the two district authorities and senior officials via video-conferencing.
The CM said Rs 12,000 and Rs 8,000 would be given to rural and urban families respectively for building toilets, according to a government release here.
According to the release, about 5 lakh families in rural areas alone in the state have no toilet in their homes.
In the Bageswar district 13,526 such families live whereas the number stands at 18,960 in Chamoli.
