Chana prices recovered by 2.33 per cent to Rs 4,399 per quintal in futures trading today as traders enlarged positions at prevailing levels amid pick up in demand in the spot market.
Besides, tight stocks position in the physical market on fall in supplies from producing regions supported the upside.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in October month shot up by Rs 100, or 2.33 per cent to Rs 4,399 per quintal with an open interest of 89,350 lots.
On similar lines, chana for delivery in September contracts rose Rs 97, or 2.27 per cent to Rs 4,378 per quintal in 2,110 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators at existing levels, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market led to the rise in chana prices.
