Charge that minister transported demonetised notes 'baseless':

BJP today rejected as "baseless" opposition parties' allegation that one of its ministers in Jammu and Kashmir transported a large sum of demonetised currency notes in his official vehicle, and said such "politically motivated" claims were aimed at spreading falsehood and rumour.
"The allegation by the opposition parties are baseless. We are mulling the option of moving the court of law against the parties levelling such allegations," BJP state president Sat Sharma told reporters here.
Without taking any name, the opposition parties, including Congress, have accused a BJP minister of laundering large sum of now-defunct Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in his official vehicle. The opposition parties also staged protests in this connection.

Sharma said the opposition parties were levelling such allegations without any proof.
"If they have any proof, they should come forward with it. The allegations are politically motivated and aimed at spreading falsehood and rumour," he said.
On the issue of demonetisation, BJP said the common people across the country were happy with the step taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and that the opposition parties were "hiring" people to stand in queues outside banks to create chaos.

"The opposition is hiring people to stand in queues outside banks and ATMs so as to spread chaos, whereas the common people across the country and the state are satisfied with the steps taken by the Prime Minister to eradicate the menace of black money and corruption," Sharma said.

On the situation in Kashmir, BJP said that majority of Kashmir was peaceful and there were some areas where turmoil was there. However, steps are being taken to restore normalcy in the entire Valley.
Reacting to the statement of former chief minister Omar Abdullah advocating for holding of parleys between New Delhi and the stakeholders in Kashmir who were willing to talk, the BJP state president said they were for talks with only those who believe in the Constitution of the country.
"In the past as well, BJP has tried to hold talks with those who are willing to talk under the ambit of the Constitution of India," he said.
