Chennai airport gets new airport operation control centre

The new airport operation control centre (AOCC) and data centre at Chennai airport was inaugurated today, to provide seamless services to passengers such as check-in and boarding.
Civil Aviation Secretary, Ashok Lavasa inaugurated the AOCC and Data Centre at the Chennai Airport in presence of the officials from Airports Authority of India (AAI), NIIT Technologies representatives and other partners, an BSE filing by NIIT stated.
According to the statement, the implementation is a part of the first phase of airports modernisation plan to be rolled out by AAI across 10 airports in India.
The multi-airport model integrates with key Airport Systems and is capable of managing multiple Airports through common Airport Operational Database (AODB).
The solutions involving Airport Management System and Resource Management System supplied by SITA have been implemented and integrated with the existing key airport systems.
AAI spokesperson said in the statement, "The Chennai airport managed by AAI will now have accurate real-time data from a single source which will provide passengers a seamless experience of improved check-in, boarding and other self-service facilities".
This is the first multi-airport installation in Asia which will enable information sharing across 10 airports instantly and hence benefits AAI, airlines, and other stake-holders at the airports.
According to NIIT Technologies, This technological advancement will help contribute in the future growth of Indian aviation sector and provide the passengers of Chennai Airport, a world-class experience.
The project is a key initiative undertaken by Civil Aviation ministry towards modernisation of Indian airports to improve capacity utilisation, passenger throughput, stakeholder management and process standardisation.
The implementation of AOCC will enable Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) among all stakeholders at the Airport optimising airport resources and operations.
