Chhattisgarh to be awarded with Krishi Karman award

Chhattisgarh will be conferred with the 'Krishi Karman' award for 2014-15 for achieving growth in production of pulses.
Krishi Karman awards, instituted in 2010-11, are given to best performing states for raising foodgrain production.
The state is growing at fast pace in the farm sector. In 2014-15, area under pulses in the state was 7.85 lakh hectares and the total output of lentils was 6.55 lakh tonnes in the same year, state Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal said.
"The state will be awarded with Krishi Karman award for the year 2014-15 for rise in pulses production," Agarwal said
Chief Minister Raman Singh also congratulated the farmers and other state officials for this achievement.

The state will be awarded with Rs 2 crore and an appreciation letter.
Krishi Karman awards are given to Best performer States for raising country's food grain production. Krishi Karman Awards comprises of three awards for total food grain production and four awards for production of rice, wheat, coarse cereals and pulses - the crops that constitute the food grain.
