Chief justices, judges of 60 countries participate in summit

There is a need for enactment of globally applicable world laws to protect the future of humanity, end wars and deal with the problem of terrorism and illiteracy, the chief justices and judges of 60 countries today asserted.
The heads of judiciaries and other judges across the world shared their view at 'World Judiciary Summit' held here.
A press statement issued by City Montessori School in Lucknow, which organised the Summit in Delhi, said, "The Jurists asserted the need for enactment of globally applicable World Laws to protect the future of humanity, end wars, ban nuclear weapons, create a safe ecology and deal with problem of poverty, illiteracy, climate change, human rights, global warming, terrorism etc."

Chief justices and judges from 60 countries participated in the 14th International Conference of Chief Justices of the World on Article 51 of the Constitution of India which is being held from December 11 to 17 as part of the World Unity Education Programme of the school.
Speaking at the conference, Justice A S Qureshi, former judge at Gujarat High Court, advocated for powerful laws to protect the interest of old, weak, women and children who are the most vulnerable victims in war.
"The time is ripe for a peaceful revolutionary change which can bring the countries together and unite them as one World.

"Women and children are the most vulnerable victims in war and have to suffer even if they are innocent. It is necessary to raise a voice in their support. Powerful laws are the best means to protect the interests of the old and weak, the women and children so that they can live happily and fearlessly on earth," he was quoted as saying in the release.
