Chopra, whose first two rounds were 70 and 79 at Monterrey and Pebble Beach Links, missed out the 54-hole cut and crashed out.
Chopra had three birdies, six bogeys and double and this week he had three doubles and one treble. His form has been patchy and has missed the cut in each of the four starts he has had.
At the top, Jimmy Walker tamed the strong winds and shot four-under 67 at Monterrey Peninsula Links and grabbed a six-shot lead with one round to go.
Walker was at 13-under 202, while Tim Wilkinson of New Zealand carded 69 and Hunter Mahan (72) were at 208.
