Two centres of the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) will be set up in west and south Haryana, Union minister Ananth Kumar has said.
According to a survey, 10 lakh plastic engineers and technicians are required in the country, whereas less than two lakh such experts are available, the Union Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister said here last night.
These centres will help meet industry requirements for plastic engineers and technicians. As the technology is required in all sectors from agriculture to space exploration, these centres will help make the country self-sufficient in this field, he said.
Kumar also directed officers of Chemicals and Fertilisers Ministry to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding to be signed by the Central and the Haryana governments for associating Saksham Yuva Yojana with CIPET.
He also said a plastic park will be set up over a 75 acre land in Panipat at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore, while a pharma park will be set in over a 100 acre land in Karnal.
The plastic park to be set up in Panipat will generate employment opportunities for 30,000 plastic engineers and technicians, Kumar said, adding the pharma park in Karnal aims make the country self-sufficient in terms of medicine production, and would help reduce production cost by 30 per cent.
The Union government will provide all general facilities in the Pharma Park, he said.
Besides, the number of jan aushadhi centres in Haryana will be increased from 25 to 100, the minister said.
He said 1,320 jan aushadhi centres have been established throughout the country under the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to provide free medicines to people belonging to economically weaker sections.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said as a result of the investor-friendly policies of the state government, Haryana ranks sixth in the country and first in north India in terms of "ease of doing business".
In the last two years, 13,000 new industrial units have been established in Haryana, providing employment to 1.70 lakh youth, he said.
