The girl was allegedly harassed by youths belonging to a different caste on Saturday following which a panchayat was convened last night to resolve the differences between the two castes, they said.
The discussion took a violent turn leading to a clash which left at least six persons injured, they further said.
Police rushed to spot and brought the situation under control, they said, adding, security has been tightened in the area and extra forces have been deployed.
