In a statement issued here today, the former Excise and Taxation Minister said according to reports, the damage to crops in heavy rain and hailstorm has been severe, especially in Tosham, Bhiwani, Badhra, Dadri and Loharu and other areas of the state.
"The ready-to-harvest wheat crop has been virtually flattened in many parts of the state. The extent and spread of the damage has put the farmers to great losses. Conservative estimates put the losses at not less than 50 per cent," she claimed.
Choudhry demanded that the state government should immediately come to rescue of the farmers, order a quick assessment of the losses and announce relief to the farmers.
