Developers who sell flats without obtaining occupation certificate (OC) from civic authorities would face action, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said in the Legislative Assembly today.
Replying to debate on the budgetary demands of Urban Development Department, Chavan said 4,219 buildings in Mumbai did not have occupation certificate.
"If these buildings have NOCs for fire safety and lift, the government will consider giving them occupation certificates," he said, adding that the developers who sell flats without obtaining OC would face action.
On rateable capital value-based property tax, Chavan said he would convene a meeting of all stake-holders.
He also announced a special investigation team to probe the irregularities in privatisation of Mulund-Kanjur Marg- Deonar dumping ground project.
Earlier, minister of state for Urban Development Bhaskar Jadhav said the proposed 'water transport' facility from Marine Lines in south Mumbai to Borivali in the north will be set up by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation in two phases. Six jetties will be constructed, and the project is now in the pre-bidding stage.
The tender process of Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) project will be completed by May and the project is likely to be completed in five years, he said.
Rs 530 crore have been provided for the kumbh mela in Nashik, to be held next year, he said.
