West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said her government is holding review meetings in all districts of the state to oversee speedy and timely execution of development works.
"We have been conducting Chief Minister to BDO meetings, which is a unique thing in the country. We do these meetings to oversee all development works being executed in the districts and that they are done quickly," said Banerjee, while inaugurating 20 projects in the Malda district and before attending a district administrative review meeting at the Malda College Auditorium.
Banerjee was accompanied by three of her ministers, the state Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director General of Police, Jalpaiguri Divisional Commissioner and other departmental secretaries. The District Magistrate and a host of others district officials attended the review meeting.
Among the projects inaugurated by the Chief Minister were the central bus terminus, a polytechnic college in Kaliachak, two ITIs, two boys' hostel, a girls' hostel, a Minority Bhavan, Anganbari Centres, flood shelters, health sub-centres, a rural hospital at Harishchandrapur and others.
"In Malda, we have laid ample stress on works related malnourished children and in a very short period, we have helped nearly 10,000 such kids," Banerjee said.
The Chief Minister was scheduled to visit North Dinajpur and Siliguri in the coming days and hold similar review meetings there.
