CMJ Breweries intends to expand the capacity of its plant facility at Brynihat in Meghalaya to half a million hecto-litre (HL) from the existing 3.5 lakh HL by March 2015, a top company official said today.
"The brewery has an existing capacity of 3.5 lakh HL which was expanded in March 2014. We are intending to expand the capacity to half a million HL by March 2015," Chairman Rohit Jain told reporters here.
The Meghalaya-based company, which has joined hands with German beer brand 'Kaltenberg' for manufacturing and distribution rights pan-India, has said that it is doing well with three of its own brands.
Jain said the company's full automated green field brewery at Byrnihat is spread over eight acres of land and has been set up with an investment of Rs 110 crore.
The company inked a tie up with German beer 'Kalternberg' two years back and is finally ready to make its presence in the western India market after initially trying out the product successfully in Meghalaya, Mumbai, Daman and West Bengal.
From June onwards, the CMJ Breweries wants to get into the markets of Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore, Jain said adding that the pan-India coverage would be achieved by end of the current financial year.
"We will be in more than 10,000 outlets all over India," he said.
Jain said that the premier beer segment market is slowly picking up in the country, which has die hard strong beer consumers.
"Overall 85 percent is strong beer market while rest 15 per cent is shared between others," he stated.
