"The sunny weather may stay for the next three-fours days as the icy winds blowing from the Himalayas have abated temporarily," MeT office director A K Sen said.

However, the dense fog would continue to envelop the state particularly in the early hours of the day, Sen said.

The cold wave condition might return once the Westerly winds start blowing from the Himalayas after January one, he said.

Gaya remained the coldest place in the state with the minimum temperature at 5.6 deg C, while mercury dipped in Patna by two notches to settle at 6.6 deg C, the MeT office said.

Bhagalpur, Purnia and Muzaffarpur recorded minimum temperate of 7 deg C, 7.3 deg C and 8.6 deg C, respectively.

Rail services remained disrupted with several long distance trains tunning late by several hours. But operation at the Jai Prakash Narayan International Airport at Patna functioned as usual.
