Cold wave conditions continue in HP's high-altitude areas

Biting cold wave conditions continued unabated in higher hills and tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh while minimum temperature plummeted in mid and lower hills of the state, MeT officials said today.
Temperatures in most places in mid and lower hills stayed below 5 degrees Celsius while in high altitude tribal areas mercury hovered between 15 to 20 degrees Celsius below freezing point, they said.
Keylong and Kalpa recordeda low of minus 10.1 degrees Celsius andminus 1.6 degrees Celsius.
The tourist resort of Manali shivered at minus 0.2 degrees Celsius while Shimla and Bhuntar recorded a low of 4.2 degrees Celsius.
Solan recorded 4.3 degrees Celsius, Palampur 4.5 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 4.6 degrees Celsius, Una 6.9 degrees Celsius, Nahan 8.6 degrees Celsius and Dharamshala 10.6 degrees Celsius.
There was no significant change in maximum temperatures and Una was hottest in the region with a high of 25.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Bhuntar 23.5 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 22.8 degrees Celsius, Nahan 21.9 degrees Celsius and Solan 21.7 degrees Celsius.
The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the region on February 25 and 26, and rain and snow at isolated places for four days from February 27 as fresh Western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region.
