Intense cold wave sweeping most parts of Himachal Pradesh further tightened its grip with night temperatures in the higher altitudes of the state, which were hovering below the freezing point, dropped by a few notches.
Keylong and Kalpa in tribal Lahaul and Spiti, and Kinnaur districts recorded minimum temperatures at minus 14.1 degrees Celsius and minus 4 degrees Celsius.
Solan recorded minimum temperature at 2.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar 3.2 degrees Celsius, Palampur 4.5 degrees Celsius, Shimla 5.1 degrees Celsius and Dharamsala 8.8 degrees Celsius.
In the higher hills, thick frost was witnessed on the ground, disrupting vehicular traffic in the morning hours and the water taps were frozen.
However, day temperatures increased marginally and Una was hottest with maximum temperature at 25 degrees Celsius while Bhuntar and Sundernagar recorded a high of 22.6 degrees Celsius and 22.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
Nahan recorded a high of 21.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Solan 20 degrees Celsius, Dharmshala 16.6 degrees Celsius, Shimla 16 degrees Celsius and Kalpa 3.8 degrees Celsius.
The weather remained dry in the region and local MeT office has predicted dry weather across the state for the next six days.
