The assurance came from Revenue Minister Yashpal Arya in the state Assembly in reply to a question of BJP MLA Mahavir Singh.
Besides fixing the norms for reorganisaton of districts, the commission set up for the purpose will also take a call on how many blocks, police stations andvillages will be included in one district.
During Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank's tenure as Chief Minister, it had been announced that Ranikhet, Didihat, Kotdwar and Yamunotri will be elevated to the stature of districts.
When Congress came to power after 2012 polls it constituted a commission headed by the Chairman of the Revenue Council to look into the matter.
Questioning the justification of constituting a commission to look into an announcement made by a former CM, BJP MLA Madan Kaushik said it was the constitutional responsibility of Harish Rawat government to fulfil an announcement made by an ex chief minister.
Another BJP MLA Surendra Singh Jeena said even if a commission was set up on the issue why was it doing its work so slowly and sought to know from the government whether it would speed up the process of reorganisation of new districts.
