After six months of the killing of nine Karbi youths at Pachaspura area in Dimapur district of Nagaland by suspected Rengma militants on January 3, Nagaland government handed over ex-gratia amount of Rs one lakh each to the families of the deceased, official sources said here today.
Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Hushili Sema handed over the compensation to the families in the presence of various civil societies both from Nagaland and Karbi Anglong district of Assam, yesterday.
"It's neither the fault of the Nagas nor the Karbis," she said and blamed the presence of some anti-social elements which has been leading both the group of people to such conclusions.
She also appreciated the endeavours put by the law enforcing agencies, Karbi Anglong Peace Forum, Naga Hoho and other organizations for their immense contribution during that time of crisis, which enabled restoration of normalcy ultimately.
