Cong accuses TRS of not keeping poll promises,calls for debate

Congress in Telangana today accused K Chandrasekhar Rao-led TRS government of "failing" to implement electoral promises and dared it to have an open debate on the issue.
On the occasion of releasing a booklet titled '50 Questions on 500 Days of TRS Misrule', the state unit Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the government has been making false claims on its performance.
The booklet is compiled by the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir.
"Beginning with a U-turn on the promise of making a Dalit as CM, KCR (chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao) first cheated the families of Telangana martyrs (those who allegedly ended their lives for the sake of the separate state) by confining their numbers to 481.

"Similarly, the cases related to Telangana agitation were not withdrawn and hundreds of students were still facing the trial," Reddy said.
He also accused the government of "failing" to fulfill major electoral promises including the 12 per cent reservation for Muslims and STs, two-bedroom houses for poor, free education for students from KG to PG and the crop loan waiver scheme.

Shabbir also dismissed the reported claims of TRS that it has acted on almost 99 per cent of the promises, saying that not even 9 per cent of the promises were fulfilled by the government.
The TRS, however, rubbished the allegations levelled by the Congress and accused it of plunging the undivided Andhra Pradesh in misery during its rule.

It was the Congress' rule which brought misery to Telangana. Congress, which ruled for 48 years in undivided AP, is responsible for farmers suicides in Telangana, for unemployment and other problems plaguing Telangana, senior TRS leader and irrigation minister T Harish Rao said in a statement.
