Congress on Monday sought to make political capital in the Lok Sabha out of a mistake in an advertisement released by BJP in Madhya Pradesh that spoke of Prime Minister Narendra Modi "eliminating" tribals on the 'World Tribal Day' today.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Kantilal Bhuria sought action against all those whose photos appear in the advertisement in Hindi issued for the Prime Minister's function in his Jhabua constituency.

Bhuria was critical of the Prime Minister for ignoring his request to take him along with him to participate in the function.

Responding to the matter, Home Minister Rajnath Singh underlined the rich contribution of tribals to Indian culture and heritage. He said he would look into the controversial advertisement.

Members, especially those from the tribal community, utilised the occasion to either raise their grievances or compliment the tribals worldwide.

Harsichandra Chavan (BJP) expressed himself strongly against moves to include Dhangar community in the reservation for scheduled tribes. He said any such move is against the spirit of the Constitution and would be resisted.

He expressed concern that Maharashtra was witnessing lot of "bogus" tribals who are extorting benefits meant for tribals.

Heena Gavit (BJP) expressed concern over the continued backwardness of the 12 crore tribals in the country.
