Former Union minister and senior Congress leader Jai Parkash today announced his decision to resign from the party and contest as an Independent from Kalyat Assembly seat in Haryana.
Sore over being ignored in ticket allocation, he claimed that the party had made up its mind to nominate Ranveer Mann from the seat.
Parkash today convened a meeting of his supporters at Kalayat to elicit their support for parting ways with the Congress.
He alleged that giving ticket to Mann was a direct result of a "secret understanding " between Haryana Minister and Kaithal MLA Randeep Singh Sujrewala and Kalayt INLD MLA Rampal Majra who was contesting again from this seat.
The purpose behind allotting ticket to Ranveer Mann was to ensure the victory of Majra and in return, the INLD MLA would extend tacit support to Surjewala in the neighbouring constituency of Kaithal from where he will be contesting as Congress candidate, he claimed.
