Cong steps up attack on Amit Shah

The Congress today stepped up its attack on Amit Shah with its Delhi unit and youth wing holding separate protests demanding action against the BJP chief over reports alleging that a firm owned by his son registered a big rise in turnover after the party came to power.
The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee and the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) members demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi order a probe into the allegations.
The Delhi Congress march from Mandi House and the IYC rally from its Raisina Road office headed towards the BJP headquarters on Ashok Road. But, the protesters were stopped by police on the way.

"Why Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had promised to protect the wealth of the nation without indulging in any kind of corruption by acting as a 'chowkidar', is now silent," Maken asked.
He demanded a probe by two sitting judges of the Supreme Court into the allegations against the BJP chief's son.
Maken also sought removal of Amit Shah as the BJP president, saying "Bangaru Laxman, ex-BJP chief, had to resign after he was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh in a sting operation".

The Youth Congress sought an inquiry by the CBI and the ED. It also demanded the prime minister come out with a statement on the issue, said Amrish Ranjan Pandey, media coordinator of IYC.

The Congress has launched an all-out attack on the BJP chief with several party leaders holding press conferences across the country to hit out at Shah's son over his alleged business dealings, while prodding the prime minister to speak up on the issue.
The charge has been rejected by the BJP and Shah's son, who termed the report "false, derogatory and defamatory".
