"Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has requested the Jabalpur High Court to order a CBI probe into the Vyapam scandal, and with this ends the controversy surrounding it," he told reporters here.
Tomar, however, said Chouhan did not take the decision due to pressure but because he felt it would not be proper for him and the central government to take a decision on it.
Tomar said it would be unfair to link all deaths to the Vyapam scam because each death was different from the other and each should be seen in different analytical perspective.
"All deaths are not related to Vyapam. It will be unfair to do it. There are different reasons for each one's death and it should be seen in different analytical perspective," he said.
Tomar pointed out that for the last two years, government had no role to play in the probe, being monitored by the HC.
Chouhan today made a U-turn under all round pressure and decided to seek a probe into the scam by CBI on a day the Supreme Court agreed to hear petitions in this regard.
Soon after his announcement at a press meet at Bhopal, the Madhya Pradesh government moved the state High Court, seeking its direction for instituting a CBI probe into the admission and recruitment scam.
Chouhan, who has been under intense opposition attack and mounting public outrage over a string of deaths of people associated with Vyapam, announced his decision to recommend to the high court a CBI inquiry.
