Copper prices fell by 0.75% to Rs 400.25 per kg in futures trade today after speculators trimmed positions on a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in November fell by Rs 3.40, or 0.75%, to Rs 400.25 per kg in a business turnover of 639 lots.

In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in far-month February next year eased by Rs 1.25, or 0.55%, to Rs 407.25 per kg in 682 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in copper prices at futures trade was due to offloading of positions by speculators, taking weak cues from global market as a strike ends at the Antamina copper mine in Peru.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months fell as much as 1.1% to $6,486.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
